Gerry Cottles Circus – Southampton – 08/04/10

The Show: Tony Hopkins is this year putting his show out under the name of Gerry Cottles (last year Netherlands National Circus). Although a lot of the acts are the same as last year (see last years review), there are also a lot of new acts too.

Clown Angelo has a friendly persona and is very funny indeed in his often seen “film” sketch including four members of the audience as well as the strictly dancing sketch along with magician/presenter Ross Presto. Ross performs large scale magic tricks as seen on last years show along with two attractive female assistants. Trio Bokafi are a unique three piece spring board act with excellent skills and presentation. Duo Ippolits are comedy acrobatics on the ladder etc. Alima Eskina returns on the cube both on the ground and high in the air. The Bungrovi Sisters also return with the unique juggling and balancing act, quite a sight in their white outfits, white equipment and white wigs!

Another new act is the Tersky Brothers on the Horizontal bars! Great presentation and lots of smiles make it a pleasure to watch! Two Ariel acts, Desiree on silks and Hi Tge on swinging trapeze complete the list.

The show includes a great opening and finale.

Housekeeping: Great programme for £4, large colour and informative. T shirts for sale as well as the usual food and novelties. A live band! A rarity these days and so welcome. Fantastic looking Big top and entrance tent with great attention to detail. Staff are friendly and helpful.
