I have spent the last two weekends with Peter Jollys Circus, a proper traditional family animal circus. There are certainly plenty of animals in this show, ranging from horses, ponies, mules, dogs, pigeons, snakes, camel, llama, zebra and ankolie.
The family members show the animals, these being either Peter Snr or Jnr and Julie Ann.
Human acts presented by the family include a western scene with rope spinning, whip cracking and knife throwing, hula hoop and juggling, tightwire, diabolo and high stilts, footjuggling and a easern scene with bed of nails, walking on broken glass etc. Simon DeVille presents two aerial numbers, the american cloudswing and silks as well as helping throughout the show.
Clowning (of which there is more this year than previous) is under the control of Buttons (Darren Parkes).
This show is probably the best i have seen it for several years, runs just 2 hours and on weekdays is only a fiver a ticket. Superb value for a superb traditional family circus.
And dont forget, if you are current CFA members, there is the first ever CFA Rally to this great show on Saturday 4th Sept 2010.
