The CFA website forum is currently open to anyone with a vested interest in the circus artform, whether you are artistes, circus proprietors, circus staff, agents or just circus friends.
Any subject can be mentioned and discussed. Debate is welcome and indeed encouraged.
Personal attack against another induvidual or circus is NOT acceptable and the person concerned will be barred, as this kind of behaviour attracts no one to this site or indeed the circus!

Sue Roylance is a good woman and should not be banned. Tom, please try and keep it civil on here.

Mr. Llewelyn, I think someone else on the Beadle thread had the opinion that Ms. Roylance should 'make amends'. I am not uncivil I am never uncivil but I was personally insulted. This association should have some rules of general conduct within itself if it expects rules of conduct from me and others.

How are you get along with that American circus confused

Everyone should keep it civil. People who push and provoke people and then get a response, should not complain.
Right, lets just talk about the subject we are all on this site for, and thats the 'circus'.
Its quite simple. Abuse and you will lose it!!

Mr. Lewis I would agree with your 'everyone' statement but I would like you to explain to me how I was personally abusive to anyone upon the 'Beadle' thead? I pleaded to keep politics out of the thread topics and was criticised for the request. Talk political parties and their policies that effect our business but not individuals of circus who might be to the right of Adolf or to the left of Lenin!
You still will not declare what your policies are as an organisation. We learn that you, personally, are 'most active' but you again fail to tell us how or for whom? Is it only for certain shows or for the lot (where might The Sandow Clowns fit in to your policy or the CFA policy? The past showed how it was 'policy' to close venues to us).

PostSubject: cfa website forum   Fri May 21, 2010 2:55 pm

Every day i look at this forum and think can i actually be bothered to reply to some of these postings. This site is for circus talk. No sarky comments, family arguments etc etc etc.
In reponse to Tom Sandows request ref Beadle posting. There was sarcasim aimed at both David Konyot and yet again the CFA. Sarcasim can be taken several ways depending on the mood of the person who is being written about when they read it. Lets be honest, me and Tom Sandow are going to agree on very little. This is a shame, as you have a great knowledge and a lot to offer. But your postings do go off track somewhat. Bringing into this site, he said this on facebook or wherever has little baring on what people can read on this site. The public at large who gain access to this ite, are here for several reasons, the main one being to source information on the circus. Seeing this bickering between artistes/proprietors/fans will do none of us any good.
As regards the John Turner website, i have no idea what happened to that, but Tom i will ask and see what i can find out.
The aim of the cfa is ' to stimulate and foster enthusiasm for reputable circus as a popular entertainment and valuable part of British culture, to actively promote it and to rigrously resist prejudice and threats aginst it, in conjunction with all others in quality circus'.
As regards what i do for circus. Talk to Martin Lacey, Rusty Ruseell, Peter Jolly, Mondao.
Much of my spare time is taken with Circus Mondao. I also spend quite a bit of time with the Jollys. This includes build up/pulld owns, billing, ticketing, photo and video promotional work, ringstaff duties and also try and find new sites.
Any show that requires help, will get it. I prefer traditional animal shows but if a non animal show contacts me and i am able to help them, then i will. Which to be honest, so would virtually all the other circus fans. And do remember not all circus fans are cfa members.
You ask where your show comes into things. You will remember i came to see your show last year, along with sue and philip roylance. I can't speak for them. But as far as i am concerned and i will say this for all to see, due to the adverse comments by you on another site, which i think got you barred!, i will not ever come to another of your shows nor would i actually help your show, should you ever ask. That might sound arrogant and rude, but i dont buy tickets for a show, travel 60 miles and recieve the treatment on a public forum from the owner and then think i would help him at some point. My time i spend with people who respect me and my views and who actually appreicate my help, support and enthusiam for circus.
That is my opinion and does not reflect anything whatso ever to do with the cfa.
I have to agree with sue roylance, if the cfa is such a lost cause, as you seem to think, why do you use our site!
The ways things are going, this forum wont be here much longer.
I am sick to death of all the bad feeling that is being generated on this forum.
If anyone has nothing good or postive to say, then please stay away.

Andrew
I did not realise the amount of work you put in for various shows plus a day job? Plus of course the management of this site. You do sound most stressed and overworked. I am not talking about CFA members - all may do a great job - I am referring to the committee including yourself. Do less of the work for proprietors and promote circus from the office. That was my meaning about our particular show, I was not asking you to help me personally.
I do not recall problems with other sites! I am far too busy to even think about it. Our promotion in what matters and that is appreciated widely.
Thanks for coming 60 miles! Frankly it takes all of our publicity to encourage people to come ten miles (we love them!)
You do not sound rude just overtaxed perhaps? Take a holiday we say.
I do hope this message is taken as positive?

You may have made it quite clear but no one can find this referrence. Your main website (according the Google search this moment) is still showing 'forum closed' or do you now have two sites?
The name of Sandow is grately appreciated as a brand title and we are more than a little concerned that a 'supportive' group should see fit to mis-use it in the above fashion.
Your above 'link' is showing 'page error'
Please get the CFA act together - for all our sakes.

The CFA forum is indeed closed until further notice. Any further information will be available at http://www.circusfriends.co.uk/forum.htm as soon as it becomes available. We would therefore ask members to use this link to access the forum.

It is unfortunate that the forum is closed but what is not being said is, the forum is not to be re-opened. It would seem that criticism of the CFA leadership is not to be tollerated. I would like to see a strong CFA acting for circus art and artistes and I have made this quite clear upon my open and free Facebook page see - Tom Sandow - group; 'the best for circus artistes'. Everyone and anyone is free to contribute to that page section.
